What is Access Bars?

Many people ask “What is Access Bars?” and answering that question can be challenging…..Access Bars is a gentle yet effective, hands on head body processes that can create change in the recipient that goes beyond Mindfulness, Beyond Healing and allows Stress to Melt away.

It’s weird, it’s wonderful and can be difficult to put into words!

So what is Access Bars? Everyone experiences something different and each time you have your Bars run can be a different experience again.

My first time of having my Bars run, I had no idea what they were!

I was at a conference in the city of Chicago USA and hanging out with a fun group of Americans. One evening the suggestion was:

“Let’s all go out for dinner and then run some Bars”

Being a Brit and brought up with the English Pub culture where pub crawls are familiar…. I thought it was just the American way of saying we’d be eating out for dinner, then going on a pub crawl!

…But what is Access Bars?

Did you know there are 32 points on your head which, when gently touched, effortlessly and easily release anything that doesn’t allow you to receive? These points contain all the thoughts, ideas, beliefs, emotions and considerations that you have stored in any lifetime. This is an opportunity for you to let go of everything!

That’s one description of what Access Bars are.  It’s a nurturing, relaxing experience and can create change in any area of your life.

Access Bars (often simply called “The Bars”) is a dynamic hands on process.

Access Bars

It involves a practitioner gently touching various points on someone’s head. That’s called “running your Bars”. It’s done fully clothed and during a “Bars” session which usually takes about an hour, you are free to talk, snore, cry or laugh.

Especially laugh.

One of the side effects many people find after getting their Bars run is more JOYfulness.

But I’m sure nobody wants that.

Here’s a short video about Access Bars:

What if you could Clear out all the clutter from your mind and relax into a space so nurturing that all stress and tension melts away?

That’s what Access Bars are to me. Clearing the mental clutter.

Beyond Mindfulness

When you have your Bars run, it’s a way of dissipating all the “Gunk” that’s built up and got stuck anywhere in you physically, emotionally and beyond. Letting go of layers and layers of stuff that no longer serves you.

Quietening the monkey mind, dissolving the relentless mind chatter and creating a space of peace that’s deeply nurturing and expansive.

The action of running Bars creates space.

Space of clarity. Space to choose more of you.

It’s a powerful process and yet very gentle. So gentle that it’s wonderful as a treatment for children.  In fact, children are welcomed in Access Bars Classes and under 16yr olds can attend an Access Bars class for free and qualify as an Access Bars practitioner.

There’s a wonderful account on the Access Consciousness Blog about an Access Bars Facilitator who took the one day practitioner class to a school in India. You can read more about it here.

Created and developed by Gary Douglas and Dr Dain Heer, there are many accounts of how The Bars has changed lives around the world and a recent scientific study shows remarkable results:

The Effects of Access Bars on Depression & Anxiety

In fact, it was through being in a state of such deep depression that Dr Dain Heer was considering suicide when he first discovered The Bars.  This video Gary and Dain share Dain’s story in a video that they made to share the Bars with people around the world on Suicide Awareness day here:

When people ask “What is Access Bars?”, you could say that The Bars begins the process of being able to receive.

When receiving a Bars Session, you can be sitting or lying down and it’s your opportunity to really melt into this wonderful experience and simply relax and receive.

Gary and Dain have a podcast radio show where they offer verbal processes and take live questions on a weekly basis. In this episode, the very first recording of their show, they talk about the beginning of Access Consciousness and Access Bars.

People often ask where Access Bars comes from.  They first came into the world in the 1990s and there’s more about the very beginnings in this blog post HERE

When people ask “What is Access Bars and what can it do for me?” there are so many different areas that Access Bars can create change, including reducing pain in the body, changing things that were previously considered to be unchangeable.

Bizarrely, One way to explain it is by asking questions…

Do you remember the last moment in your life when you were totally relaxed and nurtured and cared for?

Or has it been a little too long since you received healing and kindness without any judgment of your body or your being?

These questions give you a sense of the energy, space and consciousness that’s available to you when you have your Bars run.

Access Consciousness have a powerful selection of tools of which, The Bars is the core and others include:

Questions

Choice

Possibilities

Contribution

And NO JUDGEMENT.

What would it be like if you could just lay there… and let someone else do all the work?

What is Access Bars

How Did Access Consciousness The Bars Start?

Sometimes people ask about the origins of Access The Bars

How did Access Consciousness The Bars Start?

https://goo.gl/CQbGMCAccess Bars are 32 points on the head that when gently touched release negative thoughts, feelings and emotions in all areas of life.

A lot of the time people who come for a Bars session are happy to simply relax and receive this nurturing, dynamic treatment and occasionally people ask:

How did Access Bars start?

Where did they come from?

Are they based on acupressure points or meridian lines?

Gary Douglas is the founder of Access Consciousness and The Bars was the very first element of the now much larger movement which is practiced in over 173 countries around the world.

Here’s Gary Douglas and Shannon O’Hara talking about how Access Consciousness The Bars started over 20 years ago:

Shannon is one of Gary’s children and I love the relaxed, playful style of interview which might not have been possible with someone less familiar.

Questions are part of the foundations of Access Consciousness.  If you have any questions about this, feel free to put them in the comments, or ask me directly by clicking here.

Shannon goes on to question Gary deeper in two further videos regarding the beginnings and future of Access Consciousness:

This series of interviews about how Access Consciousness The Bars started were recorded over the holiday season at Gary’s home in Huston, Texas in January this year 2018.

I love the relaxed and gentle curiosity that Shannon brings to the interviews and the gentle teasing that an outside interviewer would not be able to pull off.

“Gary Douglas has felt defeated and crazy too. So whatever your vision is, never give up on it” Shannon

This is the third video where Shannon asks more questions about the origins of Access Bars and how Access Consciousness started.  Right through to questions about the future of Access, what the next step could be and where Gary sees Access Consciousness growing in to the future.

What more do Gary and Dr Dain Heer, (the co-creator of Access) desire for the movement?

Where do they see Access expanding to?

Gary says it’s about the “Willingness to do anything. Never Give Up, Never Give In, Never Quit”

“If you change One Person dynamically, you change the world.” Gary
