The Fabulous Word of the Week: “Consistency”

When most people hear the word consistency, they think of being forced to do something they don’t want to do every. single. day.

This word can evoke feelings that it’s going to be hard, laborious, not fun.

Many of us know that if we want results, consistency is key. But is consistency as boring and uninspiring as you think it is?

Let’s explore:

We understand that in order to grow and succeed, there are certain things that we need to do consistently.

And all too often, the lack of consistency is what leads to the lack of results.

Are you quitting before you’ve started?

When I think of consistency, I think of quitting.

If you’re not willing to embrace consistency, you’re giving up before you’ve even started.

Here are my thoughts on the word consistency as it applies to getting results in life, especially if you want to become the person you were created to be:

  • Most people quit long before they get results
  • If you only do something once, you’ve barely scratched the surface.
  • It is consistent repetition that builds the muscle, creates the growth and ensures improvement
  • Consistency is how you stay in the game long enough to actually get the results you say you want in anything

Think that you can’t be consistent? You already ARE.

You may surprise yourself with how many areas you’ve already built consistency in, but because you’re so used to doing it, you think it doesn’t count. Well, it does. 

Make a list of at least 10 things that you do so consistently, that you hardly even notice you’re doing them [hint: brushing your teeth every day]. See – you can be consistent!

Bottom Line: consistency is the key to adding value long enough to produce results.

Embracing Consistency

Here’s how you can put all this into action:

Pick one thing you know that’s important for you to do and COMMIT to doing it every day for the next 30 days without fail: business, physical, relationships… whatever. 

If it helps, use a habit tracker to support being consistent. Miss a day? Keep going.

You’ll be amazed at the results you get in just that short time. 

And when you’re spurred on by great results, consistency can even be fun!
