When people come to learn Access Bars in my regular classes, they often ask “What type of massage table do I need for Access Bars?”
One of the beautiful things about Access Bars is that you don’t actually need any special equipment in order to run someone’s bars.
You don’t need a fancy massage table that costs a fortune! To run someone’s Bars, they can be sitting anywhere with you sitting or standing behind them.
They could even be lying down on the floor, sofa, yoga mat with their head on a pillow in your lap.
But if you’re looking to start your access bars business, where you’ll be getting paid to give treatments, then it makes sense to look at different massage tables and review what would give a nurturing, comfortable experience for your client.

It’s also important for you to be comfortable yourself while you’re giving the treatments. If every time you run someone’s bars, it gives you a bad back, or a crick in your shoulder or hurts your body and anyway, that’s not sustainable or fun for you and your sweet body.
There are all kinds of options including Zero Gravity chairs which are light, easy to fold and store without too much space needed and portable.
So if you are thinking about getting a massage table, what kind of massage table should you get?
Make sure that it has a cut out section at at least one end so that you can get your legs comfortably underneath it.
I also like to double check there’s no cross over poles that would block your knees fitting under the table easily.
Also think about how you are going to practice Access Bars. Are you offering it from one static location where your massage couch can be permanently open, so it doesn’t matter about how much your equipment weighs? You might like to offer your clients a more luxurious all round experience and perhaps choose a massage couch with added comfort such as memory foam?
Whether you choose something that’s portable or more substantial, luxurious and static, it’s important that you’ve thought about what type of massage table you need for Access Bars and how it’s going to work for you and your Access Bars Business, however you choose to create it.
