When Life Hacks Go Wrong

Posted on May 26, 2023June 27, 2023 by Niki

Life Hacks. Supposed to make life easier…? It’s funny how when you choose something, a whole barrage of stuff leaps up to stop you.

At least that’s been my experience.

Choosing More

On Monday 1st May 2023  I committed to showing up live everyday in my free fb group to deliver a series of “Life Hacks” to share tools and techniques for ease with the ups and downs of life.

Days 1 through to 3, things are going well.

Day 4, not so good. Hubby John gets rushed into hospital.

Acute appendicitis.

Touch and go for a while.

Thank god I’ve got access to a boatload of tools to support and enhance my emotional resilience!

I could have quit

Now it would have been easy to stop doing the daily live videos.

My facebook community would have understood.

I’d only made the commitment to myself.

No-one was paying me to do it, I’d simply chosen to share what I know works so that others could access tools to create their life with more ease, joy and glory.

I could have stopped. Just quit.

And I nearly did.

Would sharing my journey in this unfolding trauma be “showing off”?

Using John’s medical emergency as a way of parading my pain?

I thought I was done with traumas and dramas.

Aren’t I the one who’s supposed to be facilitating clients through their traumas?

Doesn’t that mean that I need to project a calm, “everything in my life is sorted” persona?

No.

Life gets messy.

I’m not perfect.

I don’t have all the answers, and that’s OK.

I have tools.

Tools that help when traumas spill

Like a mop and bucket helps when water spills.

Tools that make a great situation better.

Tools that make a challenging situation navigable.

We can cry over spilt water if we want to

And when we’re ready, we can mop the spillage up so that we don’t have to slip on it later.

We’ve got this.

Tools in Action

What better way to share the tools, than to see them in action.

To show what I’m using in the stormy moments to get me through.

To show how the tools work, even when you don’t know how you’re going to cope or how much you’re going to have to cope with.

Even at extremely stormy times of stress, trauma and uncertainty, when you don’t know what’s going to happen next.

Even if, like me with John, you don’t know if they’ll live or die.

So I kept on using the tools

And I kept on doing the life hack live videos.

Sharing with you the tools I was using in these moments of intensity.

Showing what actively using the tools looks like in real life challenges.

Showing how even if you’re clinging to them like a shipwrecked child alone in rough seas clings to a rubber ring (like I was), how these tools can support you.

The tools got me through.

They continue to get me through.

And continue to lift me up

To light up my life

To bring joy

Even in my darkest moments.

How my emotional resilience also supports John (and others around me)

John and I at the beach 👆yesterday, enjoying calmer seas and grateful for his ongoing recovery and the life hacks that work!

And how actively using these tools can create many more bright and delightful moments

In your life

And the lives of those around you.

Tools That Work

That’s why, over 22 years ago, I went on a quest for tools that work.

That’s why I use them to build my emotional resilience

So that:

I’m strong from the inside out.

I can quickly access whatever resources I need in the moment.

I know that I can cope with and joyfully thrive, no matter what life throws at me.

That’s why I care about sharing them with you and others.

So that:

You have your life preserves available to you.

You have a rubber ring in the ocean of trauma and drama.

You have a lifeboat to navigate the rough seas of life.

C’mon over and check out today’s fresh life hack live in my Choosing For Today free facebook community here:

I’m continuing to share daily life hack tools so that you can use them to build your emotional resilience and give you more choice over how you experience life.

The tools that not only bring strength, but fun and joy to me, my family, friends…

And my clients.

Loopy Life

Life can get loopy.

You never know what spillages may be around the corner.
